What are we doing to build students into strong adults who are able to solve problems at whole new levels in whole new ways?

More than 10 years ago we came together to form a community of educators who are passionate about this question. We are committed to bringing the most powerful leadership and learning practices we know of to students, teachers and administrators.

Why?

Teachers are feeling dictated to by the pressure of NCLB,  overwhelmed by the number of initiatives they're expected to implement in their classrooms, and  stressed by lack of time and control.  

Administrators are frustrated by teachers' resistance to change, overwhelmed by the amount of knowledge and skill they're expected to have, and stressed by the number of meetings they attend where nothing seems to get done.

Students are bored, frustrated, anxious, and overwhelmed, continuing to drop out at an alarming rate. 8 years after NCLB, poor and minority children still achieve at lower levels than their white, affluent peers. American students as a whole still lag behind other countries in math and science.

We know there's a better way.

What we do is coach teachers and principals in a focusing process that builds their team skills and confidence in using data to improve student learning. The result is empowered teachers, motivated students, and dramatically improved student learning results. The benefits are increased confidence, capacity to handle any challenge, sense of accomplishment and efficacy, reduced stress and anxiety and improved results.

There is an urgency today as never before. We are faced with global and national problems the scale and quantity of which boggle the mind. We must be able to believe in and trust this generation of students; they're going to be our leaders tomorrow. With  27 nationally based consultants, 19 of whom are certified S.M.A.R.T. Coaches, we are committed to transforming the teaching and learning experience so that each and every child reaches his or her full potential in the 21st century.
